The SS Madame de Pompadour adrift in space

The SS Madame de Pompadour was a ship put into service in around 5120 PLF. Its design was unorthodox, but thats nothing compared to its choice of repair drones. Instead of the usual standard-issue repair robots available at the time, the SS Madame de Pompadour instead had a contigent of Clockwork Robots who were designed and programmed to repair the ship with any parts possible if the situation got out of hand. However, they took their programming a little too literally when the ship was hit by an ion storm on a routine scout mission, as they tore up and recycled the parts of the 50-strong crew that was aboard the ship.

Nearly 10 years after it was marooned in space, The Doctor and his companions arrived on the SS Madame de Pompadour. They quickly unravelled the mystery of the absent crew, but the Clockwork Robots were now working on a new plan. Using power derived from the ship's solar panels they punched holes in space-time to reach points in the life of the real Madame de Pompadour, believing that her brain was the part that they needed to repair the ship's navigation computer.

The Doctor was able to stop them, however, and seal the holes that the ship has created that led to different points in Madame de Pompadour's life. However, he could not save the crew, whose grisly remains were still wired up into the ship itself. Hearts served as fuel pumps, eyes as security cameras and brains as computer terminal cores. Even things like veins were recylced, becoming intertwined into the wires and mechanisms of the ship itself, which was left to drift through the vast emptiness of space forever.
